Lawyers in DePuy Pinnacle hip replacement lawsuits have alleged that Johnson & Johnson ignored data showing the devices were failing at alarming rates in order to maintain profits. The company previously settled hip replacement lawsuits against its ASR hip implant for more than $2.5 billion.
Several companies are facing metal-on-metal hip replacement lawsuits alleging their devices caused severe injuries requiring revision surgery. Stryker Corporation issued a Rejuvenate recall and an ABG II recall for its hip replacements after studies showed the devices were more likely to fail than alternatives.
Similar to recalled DePuy implants, Stryker hip implants have been found to increase the risk of toxic levels of metal in the blood stream. Other Stryker hip side effects include limited mobility, bleeding, and tissue damage; which could require revision surgery.
