Patients who received Stryker hip replacements are complaining that the devices have caused serious injuries. The Palm Beach Post in Florida has profiled some of the patients facing debilitating competitions from failing Stryker hip replacements as awareness surrounding metal-on-metal hip replacement problems increases.
Scott Ebert, Diane Pingel and Branco Obradovik are three Florida residents who received either a Stryker Rejuvenate or Stryker ABII hip replacement and have suffered from implant complications. All three patients with the metal-on-metal device had toxic metals in the bloodstream, which caused tissue damage, inflammation and chronic pain.
Stryker issued a hip replacement recall in July after studies revealed the devices are failing at a high rate. In 2010, DePuy recalled its ASR hip replacement, and now faces thousands of hip replacement lawsuits alleging that the metal hip devices were defective.
